Welcome to The Porch!

We are Jim and Penny Malmberg, a husband and wife team who have been fronting the band Back Porch Swing since 2003. We play old-time swing, folk, bluegrass, and jazz influenced music and have travelled western Canada and beyond from our headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta.

We book as a duo or with the full band. Our duo focuses on our original compositions, showcasing harmony voices, guitar, and mandolin. Performances showcase our songwriting with an intimate presentation.

Back Porch Swing provides a full band experience, adding the talents of Cam Neufeld on fiddle and Kevin Jacobson on bass. Hot licks, tight harmonies, and humorous lyrics make for an audience pleasing show covering everything from square dance to western swing, bluegrass to folk.

From intimate "house concerts" in the comfort of your living-room to the large stages of folk festivals, we are avid, enthusiastic performers suitable for a wide range of events. Highlights include: North and South Country Fairs, Blueberry Bluegrass Festival, Burningman, Robson Valley Music Festival, and the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Festival.
